I never know how to say it. I’ve tried different ways of wording it. “Want to come with?” “Want to go?” “Are you interested in doing that?” But none of them really say what I mean. None of them say “I want to do this thing and I want you there. Please will you go with me?”

SSN? Really?
Several places I’ve worked have had this policy. Most institutions I’ve dealt with have had this as a requirement. Providing and using the last 4 or 6 characters of your social security number as a password on access to your accounts. The call centers I’ve worked at require it be provided before a password can be reset, banks require it at the beginning of every call or...

Idea for Initiative
Thinking of possible alternates for initiative, and this is a model I’d at least like to try out. Example: The first big conflict of the campaign. Our PCs (Bob, Charles, Daniel, and Evelyn) are in the megacorps facility trying to extract some data on a server that is only available from the local network. They’re in the server room. Bob is at the console trying to download the data...

WatchWatch
I definitely have to see this movie when it comes out :-) nudityandnerdery: I’m strangely psyched about this. But come on- Peter Dinklage, Danny Pudi, Summer Glau, and Ryan Kwanten? Hell, I’d likely just watch a movie of them sitting in a bar for two hours and talking about whatever.

Horror, RPGs, and Templates
The Goal I’ve been wanting to run a Lovecraftian game of some kind for a couple of years now. Thing is, I’m not overly interested in running it with Call of Cthulhu, or any of the other “of Cthulhu” systems. The problem I have with those games isn’t anything to do with the system or setting, but rather that the players who are interested in playing them are...

Things I've learned about sleep while working the...
1. While I may be most creative after being awake for 18+ hours, I’m most productive in the 4 hours or so after I first wake up… provided I actually stay awake rather than crawling back to bed. 2. It takes me two days or so to get my body set for a given sleep schedule, so if I need to be on a given sleep schedule during the work week, then it’s imperative that I maintain the...

Projects and Passion...
I’ve always got a dozen or so projects on my desk in varying states of completion. What happens is an idea will strike me as interesting, and I’ll begin working on it (finding some websites for research, doing a few sketches, that kind of thing). Then something else will strike me as interesting and I begin working on that, and the cycle repeats. Eventually I have so many tabs open in...

System Idea for The Illiad
Listening to The Illiad, I got to wondering about the feasibility of shaping an RPG session after it. You’d start each session with a brief summary of what the campaign would include. I’m picturing this as a GMless system. The game would start with each player saying, in one sentence, what happens in this session. Once everyone had taken their turn the game begins. You’d rotate...
